We’re nearly halfway through 2024 and with the spring season nearing its conclusion, it’s time to take a look at which OPs you all chose as your favorites for this season. There were a lot of contenders and good choices to pick from, but we’ve narrowed it down to the top five OPs that everyone chose as their representation for spring. Let’s dive into this list to see which OPs made the cut from all of your votes!
#5: Black Butler - "Fanatic Parade - The Parade of Battlers" by otoha 6 percent
After nearly a decade, Black Butler is back on television screens. It boasts a fun opening that looks to bottle up that hype that fans have had and the feeling of waiting for 10 years to see this series again. The animation is well done with some good mirroring effects and it overall does a good job of building up intensity.
#4: KONOSUBA -God's blessing on this wonderful world! - "Growing Up" by Machico 6 percent
Our first of two series that are on their third season, KONOSUBA -God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!’s return sees it utilize an opening that manages to showcase the light hearted and goofy nature of the series. We get to see everyone going about their business and also some fun gags scattered throughout the opening that does an excellent job of maintaining that fun atmosphere the anime is known for. “Growing Up” also matches that tone and was a good choice to pair up with this series.
#3: Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers - "Danna-sama to no Love-Love Love Song" by Rie Kugimiya 7 percent
If you were voting for openings with a cuteness factor, Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers was certainly going to get your vote. For half of this opening you could almost look at it like a music video with the various dance routines and it mainly focusing on one character. The fact that YouTube also showed me many Shorts that used this song featuring people dancing makes a ton of sense given how this opening is so catchy and fun. As a whole, it works as something that would get you ready for an episode of the series or make you want to get up and do the dance yourself. Whichever you’re feeling at the time.
#2: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime - "Peacekeeper" by Stereo Dive Foundation 11 percent
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime openings usually pack quite a punch and that’s no exception this time around. It has a lot to show off from the letterboxed opening, to going through the wide cast of characters found in the series, and finally finishing up with some action to encompass what the show is all about. Through all of that you’ll be hyped up for the episode to come and ready to see what wild twists and turns are about to unfold.
#1: Kaiju No. 8 - "Abyss" by Yungblud 16 percent
It’s not often we hear western music when it comes to anime openings, but Kaiju No. 8 did that with both its opening and ending themes. England’s Yungblud powers us through this opening and the animation itself is just completely different from everything else we’ve seen on this list thus far. This combination truly stands out and makes this an opening that’s certainly memorable and one you’re not going to want to skip. I can see why this would get the votes it did and obtain the top spot.
