The Elusive Samurai Anime Catches the Breeze in New Visual
Historical adventure series premieres on July 6
Ahead of a July 6 broadcast premiere in Japan, the official Twitter account for The Elusive Samurai anime unveiled a brand-new visual today highlighting the historical series' much-anticipated release and featuring the caption "The story of young Tokiyuki Hojo begins with the fall of the Kamakura shogunate."
Based on the manga by Yusei Matsui (Assassination Classroom), Yuta Yamazaki (WONDER EGG PRIORITY assistant director) directs The Elusive Samurai at studio CloverWorks, with series composition by Yoriko Tomita, character designs by Yasushi Nishiya and music by Akiyuki Tateyama and GEMBI.
VIZ Media publishes an official English version of the manga and describes the story:
After the massacre of his family by the traitor Ashikaga Takauji, Tokiyuki flees with the help of a handful of loyal retainers who have also survived the purge. One of them is Suwa Yorishige, an ally of the Hojo clan and lord of Suwa Province. The slightly odd Yorishige also claims to be clairvoyant and foretells that Tokiyuki will one day become the ruler of Japan. But for the moment, escaping from enemy territory is the priority!
