Manager Kim – An amazing father with an amazing story

Hey guys what is up welcome back to my blog I’m so thankful that you guys took the time out of your day to read my blog post. Hope you all are safe and healthy. I’m jumping into the PTJ verse comics now and I’m going in with high expectations, this first one, Manager Kim did not disappoint at all. SPOILERS AHEAD.

The story shows us Senior Manager Kim, a hardworking man and a loving father. He has a young daughter named Minji in high school but he’s also an ex spy, ex special forces and a guy who has 2 units dedicated to him. He quit his job in the special forces to live together with his daughter but what happens when that daughter is taken away from him ? She’s missing and seemingly dead. Manager Kim will stop at nothing to get her back. It doesn’t matter if they’re street thugs or the Korean military themselves, what matters to Manager Kim is his daughter. This is the tale of him getting his daughter back.

I loved that this manhwa had characters that connected it to the other PTH universe comics. Of course there’s Manager Kim who has made an appearance in Lookism as well, he’s a man who is usually avoiding trouble and trying to live a simple life but when things come to his daughter, a switch is flipped and he won’t stop at anything for his daughter. His daughter Minji acts like a typical teen. She doesn’t know her father’s skill and is a brat overall. Then we have Song Hansoo, Father of Taehoon from Viral Hit (always suspected there was something about him). Also Park Jincheol, Dabin’s dad from My Life as a Loser. There are many good characters but since the story is still in only its beginning phases and its more of a thriller than a personal journey, I believe there isn’t much character development which isn’t needed.

The manhwa has an incredible story start and it manages to keep that feeling throughout the read. There’s extremely brutal fights which you would come to expect from a manhwa that is connected to Lookism. There’s also really cool spy stuff that makes you feel like a fascinated child again. I have already stated the amazing characters that are present in the manhwa. The thing that makes it so good is the gradually rising stakes as we progress through the story going from gangsters to professionals.

The manhwa gave me a simple lesson. If you have something precious then don’t stop at anything to protect it. It’s as simple as that, as much as you can, struggle to protect what’s precious to you because simply giving in is not the way but what Manager Kim also does is not pick useless fights just because he’s strong. He wants to live quietly but when there is a serious threat he doesn’t back down teaching us that its not about being tough when things are good it’s about being tough when its needed.

The manhwa is currently ongoing at 26 chapters and while I do feel that there are numerous places for the story to go from here I think that waiting and watching is the best thing to do because another PTJ universe manhwa also ended at around 40 chapters. But if you liked Mamager Kim from his appearance in Lookism or if you simply want more of the action that the PTJ universe comics present or you just want a good thrilling story, this is the manhwa for you.
